Shortly after purchasing this bike new in 1991, it was converted from 6 speed Shimano 105 to 7 speed, and in that guise has done over 40,000 km of commuting, training, racing and time trialling. In recent times ( early 2012 ), it has been completely rebuilt with a NOS 600 Ultegra group, including hubs. Rims are Australian Velocity Fusion - - 32H / 28H. Variations of the 600 Ultegra group include 7400 Dura-Ace 52-39 chain rings. Gearing is now 8 speed on the 600 Ultegra 7 speed hub. This was achieved by using 8 sprockets and spacers from a 9 speed Ultegra cassette ( same stack height as original 7 speed ). To get the correct indexing, 9 speed Dura-Ace down tube shifters and 9 speed chain have been fitted. This combination has worked perfectly. Seat post is semi aero ITM The frame is now over twenty years old, ridden regularly and one owner ! |
