The following information was from Mr Fattic concerning this frame.
'There was a time back in '80 or '81 when I had Rick Mann (a friend of mine) make stock bikes for inventory without paint or braze ons. There was a T72 touring model and a R74 racing model. I identified them with a different style of decals including Rick's name on the seat tube. The idea was that when someone was in a hurry for a hand made frame, they could pick one from stock in their size and type and we could put whatever braze-ons and paint scheme they wanted for delivery within a couple of weeks. For an extra $50 and a little longer wait, we could also do a custom design. Part of the marketing scheme was that we used Henry James investment cast lugs (fairly new at the time) that were nice enough out of the box so we didn't do the extra filing to thin and shape the lugs like I would on a true custom frame and sell them for less. It seems like the base price was $350 at the time. This plan allowed newly married Rick to move back to Niles to be near his family. Eventually this target market changed when the dollar got stronger and a person could buy European made frames for less. Rick got another higher paying job with benefits and I no longer wanted to have my name on a frame that was not the best of the best. I'm not sure how many of this type of frame we made but it was probably around 50 and we must have stopped making them in '82."
