General Information |
It sems to be obvious that the name
"RAULER" was built of first name of RAUL Gozzi and the first two
letters of Ernesto Colnagos first name, hence "RAUL ER" resp "RAULER"; a project of
Raul & Ernesto and somehow some kind of a pretty unknown sub-brand
of Colnago, like COLNER was.
!! As shown on some frames (e.g. decals on the left chain stay) the name RAULER
is a combination of the two first names of the Gozzi Brothers: RAUL e R(eclus) Gozzi hence "RAULeR" resp. "RAULER". !!
It's told that at least one of the Gozzi Bros. (Raul?) worked for Ernesto Colnago before they started their own business by eo the 70's. While But these facts about the relationship with Ernesto Colnago are a little uncertain.
According to some other rumors in the www.... ... the Rauler company became one of the top (contract) builders for Colnago and did a lot of the pantographyic work for them as well.
I estimated the opening and closing years of the Rauler Inc. based on the info below and on the last website update of rauler.it (archived on archive.org) in 2014.
Thanks for a review, further info and/or confirmation!

History |
From the former rauler.it website: "Created at the end of '70 by Raul and Reclus Gozzi Bros., the first one
known for its specialization in pantography and elettrophoresis and the
second specialized in autogenous welding in the specific field of pipages
in thin extra special steel, the firm has then specialized in the bicycles
chassis assemblage for sport and race use, with RAULER mark. The company
was born and it is still a handicraft level firm, very well known also
in t foreign countries, with a lot of important European customers. It
has had the chance to supply racing bicycles to some amateur teams as
" SMEG " and " GIACOBAZZI ", this last has made a name for itself with
runners that subsequently have been absorbed from professional teams.
Between the many victories achieved, deserves mention the 100 km. to the
Olympic Games of Los Angeles (USA) in year 1984." (c)
