The brand was created in 1998 by professional cyclist Laurent Fignon, car racer and amateur cyclist Alain Prost, and former professional cyclist.Jacques Cadiou. They decided together to create a high end cycle label.
The name is the contraction of their 3 names: Pro-Fi-Ca.
The brand was sold to La Compagnie du Vélo / Véloland, and disappeared.
Profica has nothing in common with the "Laurent Fignon" low end line, sold in Auchan supermarkets.
