Michael Huebner used his TEXTIMA machines till 1994, 5 years after reunion. In 1995 he turned this bike for a FES full carbon monocoque bike with rear disc wheel, and he continued to use his signature steel goose neck (or in German”beer-tap”) stem and bar. He used as a member of the East German national team wheels with 40 bladed spokes in the rear and radial laced in the front, in spite that the radial pattern was not sanctioned by the NJS. The radial pattern was considered till the mid / end 90ties as inferior in lateral and radial stiffness over 3 cross with tied and soldered spoke crossing. In reality is the radial pattern the stiffest design for a wheel which doesn’t need to transfer torque ( e.g. front wheel) The tied and soldered spoke crossing doesn’t add any stiffens to the wheel except that it shifts the resonance frequency into an significant higher range. Later as an Pro his bike was equipped with C-Record components and a Nuovo Record chainring (49t). Double straps and Continental Sonderklasse 175 gram tires are completing the set up. |
