Model General Information |
The little Peperkamp shop in Amsterdam sold various bicycles under their own Peperkamp name, but the real thoroughbreds got the name PEKA. An often heard story is that PEKA is a substraction of PEperkamp and the family name of Mr. Peperkamp's wife. Another says it is simply derived from PEperKAmp. Coincidently or not 'PEKA' also sounds exactly like 'PK', what is 'horsepower (HP)' in Dutch.
Each PEKA frame was individually crafted. Among the builders was Peter Serier who built for Presto also. With a background in fine mechanics his work always shows interesting detail solutions. Another builder was Klaas Kwantes. Klaas Kwantes built many great stayer-frames, among them Renee Kors worlds winning example.
PEKA's are built in the best Dutch tradition: pragmatic. A tool for racing and winning competitions with.
PEKA's can be considered very rare. |
