Brand name used by Ben Olken's Lawee distribution for Italian built frames which he imported in the 1970's. Sheldon Brown's website states that the Italvega frames were all produced by the Torpado factory and that many Italvega and Torpado frame designs overlapped. When Oklen changed frame sources from Italy to Japan the name Italvega no longer became appropriate. Thus, the name Univega was born.
