Model General Information

Currys, the electrical and electronics retailer, started out as a bicycle manufacturer in Leicester in 1884 (in a garden shed). Wikipedia has a good and fairly comprehensive account of the early history of the company ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currys). They made a range of bicycles but stopped production in 1932. The bought Hercules bicycles, that they rebadged as Currys until the mid 1960s. The frame shown in the photograph had a three speed Sturmney Archer dynamo hub-gear dated February 1964.

The model shown is a 3 speed English roadster/sport bicycle. Most of the components have yet to be identified.

The company is now based in Milton Keynes and has nothing to do with bicycles (except, perhaps for a few small products, such as bicycle lights).
