The "Fahrrad- und Metallwerke L. Bauer & Co." offered the complete range of bicycles up to racing machines used in many national as well as international races like the Tour de France. An earlier focus was the development of cycling lamps.

History |
The Bauer-Werke were founded in 1911 by Ludwig Bauer in Frankfurt-Heddernheim, since 1914 located in Klein-Auheim, production of bicycles started in 1922. After the manufacturer "Fahrrad- und Metallwerke L. Bauer & Co." went bankrupt in 1968 the brand BAUER still exists under the holding of the Pantherwerke AG. The branch of the artistic bicycle production went over to Helmut Walther, Offenburg, who still produces all kinds of artistic bicycles. |
