General Information |
Founded in 1916 by Johann Baptist Winklhofer (one of the founders of the Wanderer-Werke) in Munich the production of bicycle and motorcycle chains started after the great War. By the time his sons Rudolf and Otto joined the business the name changed to "Joh. Winklhofer u. Söhne" - yet the acronym J.Wi.S. became a brand! Advertising until the early 1960s documents still production of bicycle chains, but today production is straitened to carmaker and industrial supply.
