General Information |
Maxi-car is the brand name of hubs produced at least at some point by Rousson et Chamoux S.A., based in Feurs, France. On the later, definitive, versions of the hub the distinctive red label appears with italicized logo as "Maxi-car", with only the M capitalized. On older hubs and in brochures, the name appears in capital letters with hyphen: MAXI-CAR. Sometimes the name is seen as Maxi-C.A.R. The name is said to have originated from the design collaboration of hub makers Maxi, with Charles-Albert Ripet, of Lyon.

History |
The firm of Rousson et Chamoux S.A., address: B.P. 4 42110 Feurs, France. A broadly based engineering firm with large investments in manufacturing, drive systems, etc., for agricultural applications. It also carried out a variety of plating operations. It ceased cycle parts operations in the 1990's, but continued in business, having changed its name to DJ Meca in 2004. It still trades from the same address but has now diversified into new fields of manufacturing, but still carries on a lot of CNC machining. (per Norris Lockley 6/15/2010) |
