The derailleur was produced by a Polish bicycle manufacturer. From 1948 to 1971 the factory was called Zjednoczone Zaklady Rowerowe (ZZR, in English United Bicycle Works) and had its headquarters in the Bydgoszcz town. The name of the factory changed over time:

In 2005, Zaklady Rowerowe ROMET Spólka Akcyjna ceased to exist.
In 2006, the ARKUS & ROMET GROUP took over the rights to the ROMET trademark.
