General Information
The SA02 is the continuation of the product design and function based on the L.J. 23 and following the AV 223 and Prestige models. When the SA02 appears first time in the 1975 catalogue there is no Change to the Prestige predecessor except the model Name. It is still shown with the hexhead clamp screws and only since the 1977 catalogue model SA02 is shown with the allen key screws on the clamp. The SA02 model can still be found on numerous vintage bikes of different styles and brands, whereas the the SA12 is much rarer. In 1977-1978 there was one design variation where Simplex added a round platelet with a central small pit on the outer plate right upper end (see additional Photos). The platelet was brazed on the outer plate. Not only the SA02 was modified this way during these years but also other front derailleur models incl. LJA and SLJ models (I have never seen however one of these anywhere). After 1979 this design element disappeared again.
