Part Type | Bell | Identifying Markings | Lucas on dome badge, THE CHALLIS on ringer |
Material | Nickel plated brass | Location | |
This is a 1930's Lucas King Of The Road bell. This manufacturer seemed to have a range of their King Of The Road products (not only bells but also lights, and maybe more), This particular example is the THE CHALLIS sub-model (model no 50)- this, from my understanding, denoting that this is the 3" domed version in the KOTR line. There look to be be a good few other smaller domed versions in the line, don't know if they each had sub-model names designated to them. This one has the name stamped on the ringer, although largely worn off on my example. It apparently has a nickel plated brass dome, and is seemingly a rare sub-model, as well as variant, seeing as they're not usually seen with nickel plating, and the dome badge is prone to fall off. |
