J.I.C. was founded in the early 1930's in France, and was based in the town of Puteaux, a suburb North West of Paris. Their derailleurs were designed by their founder, Charles Jeanmot, and later by his widow Germaine Jeanmot. They survived the Second World War and by 1949 their various lines of business included manufacturing derailleurs, racing frames, wing nuts and home-trainers. J.I.C. also manufactured derailleurs under the INAX and Super INAX brand names.
