This firm Gerbr. Koets (Koets Brothers) used to make tools for the common bikeshops in Holland. In those days cotterpin brackets were standard on the everday bike to go to work or school. This tool would allow the cotterpins to be removed or mounted without damaging the cranks or the bearings. The shock of the blow of the hammer would be absorbed by the counterweigth in your left hand (if you were rigthhanded). As you can see the right part is under an angle, to prevent the mechanic from hitting the frame; it has been used heavily. |
