This is the famed and elusive tool used for removing and installing the splined lock ring which holds a helicomatic freewheel to the hub. While channel-lock pliers may be just as effective for that, they don't include the handy 14- and 15-guage spoke wrenches and, more importantly, the ever-useful beverage wrench. Viva la France!
There are at least two variants of this tool. The one on the left is made of thinner stock and weighs 22g whereas the one on the right weighs 28g. The outlines are the same, but a small difference between the two is noticeable in the shape of the spoke wrench slots and the bottle opener. |
