Looks like a well made 60s/70s bottom bracket fixed cup removal tool to enable shop mechanics to reliably remove even stubborn fixed BB cups, as well two other types of cup, when the fittings described below are made use of. The fittings pictured are for the handling of fixed cups (fitting is attached to the tool, ready for use); the 'slotted' design of cup (16mm width); as well as a large sized cup (40mm width, so presumably for cups exhibiting a hexagonally sided contact area). Especially useful to remove cups which have been 'painted in' ie fitted during the original frame-painting process, and so often 'bonded' to the frame's BB shell, and therefore never removed during the BB maintenance process and so very often rusted into the BB threads:) |
